The SeriousFun Children’s Network was started in 1988 by actor and Phi Kappa Tau alumnus Paul Newman. These camps were created so that children with serious or terminal illnesses could have a safe, fun, and friendly environment to escape from the stress of their conditions while simultaneously creating friendships that last a lifetime. Starting out as one camp in Ashford, Connecticut; now, the Serious Fun Camps have reached out to children from over fifty different countries throughout the world. The men of Phi Kappa Tau adopted these camps as their National Philanthropy in 1995 and help raise money through various philanthropy events. Through each academic year Phi Kappa Tau chapters collectively raise over $100,000 to help fund the camps. Many members also donate their time to volunteer as counsellors at camps across the nation each summer and help forge memories that will last a lifetime for the kids in attendance. The Delta Omega chapter of Phi Kappa Tau asks the community for help in the form of buying a meal for our 21st annual Cookout for Kids. |
